AN INSIDE LOOK INTO POETRIC
Behind Poetrica is Carol, an Argentine resident in Madrid for more than 2 years. Her sweetness, sensitivity and her good work led her to create Poétrica, the brand of sustainable objects with which we have launched our latest collaboration.
What has led you to create Poetrica?
Poetrica was born from the idea of bringing poetry closer to people.
I strongly believe that poetry is not only in books but that it lives in small everyday experiences.
Poetry is a beautiful tool to transform states. In my case, poetry reveals information to me over and over again to understand the Magic of life.
To generate texts, surrender to the external and nutritious experience and then silence to record is key.
It is very powerful when, in full manual creation, key phrases appear that accompany the present and that transform their meaning as they reach people.
Why that name ?
It's a mix between the word poetry and how electric I can be. It came up many years ago while traveling through Brazil.
What is a day in Carol's life like?
My days are usually very energetic (I am very energetic). I like to cook and prepare beautiful spaces to eat, work or do some practice. There are days more intense than others, but the call to silence always appears at some point. And that's when I come down and come back to me.
"OFFERING A BIODEGRADABLE SOAP , WITHOUT ADDITIVES AND WITH MAJESTIC PROPERTIES THAT COME FROM PLANTS , IS TO BE COHERENT WITH THE PROJECT'S PHILOSOPHY: TO LIVE IN A MORE CONSCIOUS AND THEREFORE POETIC WAY."
Tell us about your creative process.
It is solitary and usually has several stages. As I already know what I need and in my case it is silence and time, I try to prioritize them when creating. Sometimes the idea comes to me out of nowhere and then I work on shaping it. Lately I am more focused on the process itself than on the result.
A song that motivates you before you start creating.
Right now I'm a fan of the song Cutting Branches for a Temporary Shelter , by Penguin Café Orchestra, raises the vibe strong!
It seems that in the 21st century, mass production prevails over artisanal processes. What do you think is the future of crafts?
I think it's about decisions. As an artisan, the possibility of mass-producing has been suggested to me and I decided no, that doing less means doing more with meaning. Listening to your own rhythms is key and craftsmanship has that magic of being unique, of offering the community the time, love and energy that it took you to make each object. I am tremendously optimistic and I believe that what is done by hand always wins.
All your soaps are natural and free of chemicals. Why?
I was always caring for the environment but for that we must first review what we consume. Offering a biodegradable soap, without additives and with majestic properties that come from plants, is to be consistent with the philosophy of the project: live more consciously and therefore, poetically.
What soap best defines Poetrica?
Without a doubt, the mini luminous soap . The size translates the magic that is in the small. It has a color that goes from peach to orange-reddish. It is a soft and Fuegian soap at the same time, because it contains cinnamon, the powerful and masterful one that repairs, energizes and moves all bodies.
And finally, who would you love to use your soaps every day? Mmmm... how difficult you make it for me! I was going to say Agnes Vàrda but she is no longer with us. So I will say Tom Yorke, Laura Lee, Carlota Guerrero or Jean-Luc Godard.
Now available TRANSLUCIDO , the NWHR x Poetrica soap made from biodegradable plant-based glycerin, tangerine, rosemary and calendula petals.
